The New Mosque Complex, the foundation of which was laid by Safiye Sultan in 1597 but completed 60 years later in 1665 by Hatice Turhan Sultan, the mother of Sultan Mehmed IV, is one of the masterpieces of our architectural history as it is the last Classical Ottoman work from the Mimar Sinan Tradition. The Sultan’s Pavilion Shops are also a section within the complex. The Vasiliyanus Tower, which remains from the Roman and Byzantine periods, is located under a part of the Sultan’s Pavilion and is like the viewing terrace of the Pavilion. The Vasiliyanus Tower Stone walls and terrace section, together with the Sultan’s Pavilion Shops, were restored by our company under the sponsorship of the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce.
