Restoration of Ferruh Kethüda Complex
It was built by Mimar Sinan in 1562-63 by the Grand Vizier of Suleiman the Magnificent, Semiz Ali Pasha, Steward, or housekeeper, Ferruh Agha, in the Ayvansaray neighborhood of Fatih district. The rectangular-planned cut stone mosque was in ruins with the closure of the lodges in 1925, but was repaired and opened for worship between 1953-1960. Although it was repaired again in 1986, it was seen that the applications were made with manufacturing that was not compatible with its original structure. In 2016, as a result of the tender made by the Foundations Istanbul 1st Regional Directorate, its comprehensive restoration was started by our company and completed in 2021 and opened for worship. The Ferruh Kethüda Complex consists of a Mosque, a Fountain, 2 Burial Grounds and a Primary School, and there is an original sundial on one facade. Unlike the Mimar Sinan Mosque structures, the roof of this structure is made entirely of wood and has a dome inside the roof that is not visible from the outside.
